To be honest, I really didn’t want to give this review. The Coach House at Kernock Cottages was so perfect, I thought about trying to keep it all to myself! We had the best holiday I can remember having in a long time. The cottage itself was perfect. It had everything you could want, from a top end 5 star finish to a wonderful hot tub tucked away in the secure garden.
We didn’t take our dog this time. We managed to convince the family we had to come and check out the facilities before booking it as a family holiday! Safe to say, we will be back, this time with all the family. I know our dog will absolutely love Central Bark.
Damian and Louise were the perfect hosts. Even though the other cottages were full, and people came and went while we were staying, they made us feel like we were their only guests. That is a rare quality. We were delighted by everything they did for us, including the fabulous welcome pack that awaited us on arrival, complete with a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge.

The Coach House (5* Gold Visit England) is designed as a comfortable romantic retreat for two (plus cot, if required), with a fully enclosed garden (very doggy friendly) and private hot tub. Set in a 22 acre private eco estate, enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful setting. Dogs welcome.
The cottage has everything you’d expect in a 5* cottage – fluffy bathrobes, hairdryer and Smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped with an orange juicer and espresso machine, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave, ceramic hob and fridge/freezer. Keen cooks will find everything they need from a full set of sharp knives to cake tins and blender. Alternatively, there are superb pubs and restaurants in the area including a village pub just a 15 minute walk away.
For dogs: We provide a dog welcome pack and have a bigger 6-acre secure dog-walking area (“Central Bark”), which consists of two adjoining fields. The first is flat, and has mown paths, benches, a loop through the woods, poo bins. This field leads on to another large fenced field, which has a flat area and a valley, which provides excellent rabbit-chasing territory!

Fully enclosed secure garden
It has a galleried bedroom with king-size bed overlooking a double height sitting room with dining area and has a separate modern kitchen. The bathroom has an L-shaped bath with shower over, and a glass screen. The cottage roof beams and lintels are exposed, and the flooring is tile with underfloor heating in the sitting area, and bamboo in the bedroom area.
Outside the Coach House has a private garden with Weber gas barbeque and outside furniture in summer. The hot tub is a 4 seater, including 2 loungers, and it situated on a decked area in the garden, a few paces from the front door. There is a gazebo covering the hot tub, so you get the unspoilt views down the valley, but your hair won’t get wet if it’s raining! The hot tub covers are lockable, so cannot be accessed accidentally by children. There is outside lighting in the garden for sitting outside on warm evenings. The Coach House has free Wifi and ample parking for 2 cars a short distance from its garden.

The Perfect Place and The Perfect Hosts
I cannot praise this place enough. The tranquillity, location, scenery were all amazing. I had high hopes after following Kernock Cottages for a while on Facebook, and to say we were not disappointed is an understatement. The cottage was perfect. The hosts were amazing. The welcome package for us and our dog was thoroughly appreciated. Perfect location to go out exploring Cornwall as well. We will definitely be back, to be honest we didn’t want to leave! Slice of paradise
Our stay here was fantastic. We spent 7 nights at Kernock with our baby son and dog. Damian and Louise brilliantly helpful, around if you need anything before or during your stay, without at all being intrusive. The cottage is fantastically well equipped and located for either a peaceful retreat or a hub to go and explore. The best break I’ve had in a very long time.

Our stay in Coach House
We found Kernock Cottages after much searching for dog-friendly stays in Cornwall. The description on the website sounded perfect, and the reality was even better. Whilst absolutely perfect for dogs (fantastic welcome pack, the enclosed garden, central exercise facility etc ) there was zero compromise on the humans’ accommodation – all the luxury of a quality self-catering cottage with its own private garden, hot-tub and welcome hamper. We couldn’t have asked for more for our hideaway week to rest and recharge our batteries.
But what really sets this place apart is the personal touch from the owners, Damian and Louise. From their patience and understanding before we arrived, to the arrival meeting, to the local “in the know” recommendations, and checking up on us during the hottest week of the year, we were made to feel not just welcome, but special and looked after. Honestly it was great, nothing seemed like too much trouble.
Since returning home, we have recommended this place to everyone we know and have absolutely no qualms about recommending it whole-heartedly. Thank you, Damian and Louise. We will be back.

A great place to stay
We rented all five cottages as guests of my daughter’s wedding. All of us were astounded at the high quality of the furnishings, the cleanliness and the very unexpected welcome pack! after an amazing wedding nearby we were so pleased to be able to come ‘home’ to warm and comfy beds and only the bleeting of lambs to wake us up next morning!
Friends, couples, and very young families
The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming and provide so much information to help plan a trip. The cottage itself is immaculate, comfortable and has everything you need and more with fluffy dressing gowns the cherry on top.

We have been coming to Kernock cottages for ages now as we as a family really love it there, the owners couldn’t be more helpful, we have now stayed in every cottage and they are all great!! Couldn’t recommend enough.
Exceptional location
We stayed in Heather Barn for our summer holiday and had a fabulous time. We loved the garden best of all because it is huge and private but the cottage itself is also lovely, very clean, modern and finished to a very high standard. We had fantastic weather and some great days out as Cornwall is beautiful and there are lots of things to do and places to visit. Our best day was a family canoe trip courtesy of the Tamar Trails Centre which was really good fun. We also enjoyed the outdoor water park at Paignton and body boarding at the beautiful beaches of Holywell Bay near Newquay and Widemouth Bay at Bude.
