We had the most amazing week. Our expectations were very high and I was a little concerned I’d be disappointed but I need not have worried.
The property is wonderful, the views and the setting is unbeatable and the hosts have thought of every detail and are so friendly and attentive.
As I have a keen interest in sustainable living I was impressed with the zero carbon measures in place and we were lucky enough to be given a tour.
Our little dog had the time of his life. We will mostly certainly be returning. Thank you for a brilliant holiday.
If you want a truly 5* holiday cottage experience, that not only allows but specifically caters for dogs and is environmentally friendly, this is your place.
We highly recommend the local farm shop and a trip to the falls, but only when Inkie’s is open because it is amazing!! Tree Barn July 2022
A luxury dog-friendly cottage that sleeps up to 4 + cot
Tree Barn is a light and airy cottage facing into the valley. It sleeps 4 (plus cot if required) in two double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom has a king-size bed with oak bedside tables and chest of drawers, and a built in wardrobe. The ensuite shower room has a modern walk-in shower with glass screen, designer loo and modern basin on a washstand. The second bedroom has ziplock beds, which can be arranged either as a super-king sized double or as twin beds, with oak bedroom furniture and a built-in wardrobe. The ensuite bathroom has a bath with glass screen and shower over, designer loo and modern basin on a washstand. The bedrooms have bamboo flooring, with bedside rugs. The bathrooms have tiled floors.
The ground floor is open plan with the kitchen and dining area on one side and a comfortable sitting room on the other, with oak flooring throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven, ceramic hob, microwave and plenty of pots, pans, casseroles and serving dishes. Lots of windows make the cottage bright and airy and give impressive views of the surrounding countryside.
Outside, Tree Barn has a south-west facing terrace giving stunning views down the valley. There is exterior lighting, a Weber gas barbeque, outdoor furniture and a private lawn area, as well as shared landscaped gardens at the front. The hot tub (pictured below) sits on the terrace outside the cottage, and is covered with a gazebo, so you get uninterrupted views down the valley, but you won’t get wet hair if it’s raining. The hot tub covers are lockable, so cannot be accessed accidentally by children.
Tree Barn has been awarded 5* with Gold award by VisitEngland. The cottage is very dog-friendly – the garden is securely fenced, and we provide doggy welcome packs for your furry friends! We also have a bigger 6-acre secure dog-walking area (“Central Bark”), which has mown paths, benches, a loop through the woods, poo bins, solar lighting and some lovely sculptures for onsite walks. The bottom field of Central Bark also includes the valley, which is excellent rabbit-chasing territory!

Tree Barn is a great holiday cottage in Cornwall for a family.
What people say
I cannot praise this place enough. The tranquillity, location, scenery were all amazing. I had high hopes after following Kernock Cottages for a while on Facebook, and to say we were not disappointed is an understatement. The cottage was perfect. The hosts were amazing. The welcome package for us and our dog was thoroughly appreciated. Perfect location to go out exploring Cornwall as well. We will definitely be back, to be honest we didn’t want to leave! I have already recommended this place to 3 other people! May 2022
The two cottages were exactly what we were looking for. Very clean, comfortable, and in a lovely location. We were well catered for, and so was our dog! When required, we received information for eating out, walks etc, and there is a full info book in the cottage. We used a local cordon bleu chef, for a meal in our cottage for a special occasion , who came recommended, which was lovely. We will definitely return in the future.
We rented all five cottages as guests of my daughter’s wedding. All of us were astounded at the high quality of the furnishings, the cleanliness and the very unexpected welcome pack! after an amazing wedding nearby we were so pleased to be able to come ‘home’ to warm and comfy beds and only the bleeting of lambs to wake us up next morning!
What a wonderful place to stay – we cannot recommend it enough. Everything was above our expectations. The cottage was well equipped with so many special touches . . . the bath robes, all necessary kitchen products and especially the magnifying mirrors – an essential for us females! We felt immediately welcome and at home – as did our dog! The views at Tree Barn Cottage are amazing with beautiful sunsets and so many wonderful walks nearby.
What a fabulous cottage and in the most amazing setting. The cottage was spotless and fitted out to a very high standard and I couldn’t fault the cottage – simply loved it. I was also impressed that the cottage is also very eco friendly using all low energy lights, re-cycle bins and bio mass heating. Amazing attention to detail. Our welcome pack was a very nice touch, as was the welcome pack for Sofie, our dog, who by the way loved her holiday! Top marks Kernock Cottages. If you’re looking for a quality cottage, in great countryside, handy for touring around Cornwall or just staying local and chilling out, this is the place for you. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
We had a very friendly and warm welcome staying at Tree Barn Cottage with our 3 big dogs. We had a trailer and lots of sailing kit with us and there was plenty space, help and advise at hand with the owners living on site. We’d recommend it to any family with or without dogs and would certainly come again if we are near Plymouth. It’s very peaceful and quiet!
We stayed in Heather Barn for our summer holiday and had a fabulous time. We loved the garden best of all because it is huge and private but the cottage itself is also lovely, very clean, modern and finished to a very high standard. We had fantastic weather and some great days out as Cornwall is beautiful and there are lots of things to do and places to visit. Our best day was a family canoe trip courtesy of the Tamar Trails Centre which was really good fun. We also enjoyed the outdoor water park at Paignton and body boarding at the beautiful beaches of Holywell Bay near Newquay and Widemouth Bay at Bude.
